1. Pizza and Gelato at [3svago]

Opened in January of 2023, this pizzeria and gelato store is open exclusively on weekends. The pizza cooked in the dome shaped pizza oven outdoors is absolutely delicious! The gelato made with seasonal ingredients makes for the perfect desert and is not to be missed.

The interior of the restaurant was renovated by the owner and radiates an inviting warmth.

2. The Cutest of Smoothies at [Hamakouya] 

While the barbecued turban shells are a well-known delicacy, this strawberry smoothie has been making waves on Shikanoshima! Packed with juicy and tangy amaou strawberries, this smoothie is both creamy and refreshing. The texture of the strawberries makes it fun to drink, and the sheer amount of fruit they pack in makes it feel like you’re eating a few directly from the grove. If looked at from above the cup is in the shape of the heart. Cute!

3. Popular Rice Ball Lunchtime Specialist [Shikamusubi]

At this restaurant you can enjoy rice balls made with rice and vegetables harvested on Shikanoshima. You can select the toppings and fillings that you’d like for your rice ball, and the miso soup, pickles, and small sides change daily. Rice balls are also available for takeout where they come wrapped in bamboo sheaths, so for those who are in the mood for a walk or a spot of fishing why not consider taking one of these along with you?

4. A Hearty Meal at [Shikanoshima Dog]

A relative newcomer to the island, the hot dogs at Shikanoshima Dog have skyrocketed in popularity, with their toasted buns and juicy sausages forming a winning combination. The special aurora sauce and cabbage pairing is out of this world! Adding cheese on top makes this a meaty masterpiece.

5. Picture Perfect Tacos at [Shikama Palm]

Shikama Palm opened in July of 2023 as a sister restaurant to Shikanoshima Dog. To find it, just be on the lookout for the distinctly colorful floral design of the exterior! The taco and taco rice bowls are delicious, but the poké bowl made with freshly caught fish is a must try. Since it is open late we also recommend it for night owls. Additionally, pets are allowed on the terrace, so why not bring your dog over while you have lunch?
