Great for dates! This area is located from central Fukuoka city to the south, and is easily accessible by public transit. These places tend to be “residential,” but there are many great date spots.
01 Dazaifu Tenman-gu Over 10 million visitors annually (Dazaifu-shi)
Tenmangu Shrine is the head shrine of the roughly 12,000 shrines in Japan dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning. Many tourists from abroad visit the shrine, which has over 10 million visitors annually. The gokensha-nagarezukuri style main shrine is designated as a national important cultural property.
※At Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, a major renovation of the important cultural property "Main Hall" has been underway since May 2023, taking about three years, the first time in 124 years.

02 02 Forest Log House Restaurant Alaska

03 Onojo Cocoro-no-furusato-kan City Museum
A place which connects towns- folk and history (Onojo-shi)
With the themes of “history,” “children,” and “liveliness,” this local museum fully captures the charm of Onojo. Check it out for free as a family. There is also a wall you can climb to experience the height of the stone walls of the Ono Castle remains.

[Car] Take prefectural route 602 towards Kasuga. Take prefectural route 505, Ikeike street, to Tsukaharadai. Takes about 30 minutes.
[Train] Approx. 40 minutes from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Onojo Station. Walk toward Tsukaharadai down prefectural route 580, Kasuga Minami street for approx. 30 minutes.
[Bus] Approx. 10 minutes from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Kasugabaru Station. Take the Nishitetsu Bus from Nishitetsu Kasugabaru and get off at Odoi Kominkan Mae, then walk for 3 minutes.
05 Gokayama Dam
Known for its impressive scale! (Nakagawa-shi)
This is a dam which runs between Fukuoka prefecture and Saga prefecture which stores 40,200,000 m3 of water. It is roughly 6.7 times as large as the Minamihata dam downstream, and it provides tap water for Fukuoka city and the area to support carefree living. The road around the dam stretches for approximately 10 km!

[Car] Take prefectural route 602 towards Ohashi. Turn right at the Kyushu University Ohashi Campus entrance intersection, and head towards Gokayama on national route 385. Approx. 60 minutes
[Taxi] Takes approx. 4 minutes on the express train from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Nishitetsu Ohashi Station. It is approx. 50 minutes from Nishitetsu Ohashi Station by taxi.
