Getting to seven x seven Itoshima is a cinch if you use the Hakata・Tenjin ~ Futamigaura direct bus service “West Coast Liner”! From the bus stop, which is easily accessible to visitors traveling to Fukuoka such as Hakata and Tenjin, it only takes about an hour to get to and enjoy the nature of the Kitazaki area.

Treat your senses to the natural charm of Itoshima with a daytrip to “Karadomari VILLAGE”!

After basking in the luxury of “seven x seven Itoshima”, it’s time to head out into the great outdoors. 

After overhearing that there was a place where one could experience the magnificent nature of west Fukuoka, we head over to nearby Karadomari Port, where a Tuk Tuk (three-wheeled vehicle) appeared before us.  

Upon getting on the Tuk Tuk, our driver demonstrated a proficiency in operating the vehicle as we drove up the thin path leading to our destination. Upon ascending a charming hilly road, we found ourselves in an expansive field. 

This was our introduction to “Karadomari VILLAGE”. 

As the name suggests, this is a camping facility conceived to resemble a settlement of sorts. In line with this the facility features many places for guests to interact with one another just as one would in a small natural community. The camp founders developed this vast area themselves, which had been untouched for about 50 years, to shape it into the beautiful natural landscape it is today.

For inexperienced campers the idea of spending the night outdoors may seem daunting. However, “Karadomari VILLAGE” offers visitors ways to enjoy the campgrounds without staying overnight. 

One of these ways is by selecting their Barbecue Plan. The camp provides the grill, coal, and all of the ingredients needed for the perfect BBQ outing even if coming empty handed. In this way guests can visit free of worry and enjoy the fresh air and green grass and grill to one’s heart’s content. 

Once we’re done grilling it’s time to explore the village! 
After a short walk from the central area of the camp we’re greeted by the following sign:

Drawn in by the word “BEACH”, we proceed along a small path for about 1 or two minutes that could have been taken straight out of an anime or movie. Then… 

This magnificent coastline emerges to greet us! 

The beach is quiet, and a sublime atmosphere permeates the air. It’s almost like we’ve walked upon a private beach. 

The sand is white and waters crystal clear. It has a different kind of charm compared to a crowded, bustling beach. This `hidden beach` which feels almost like it belongs to you alone, is a definite highlight of “Karadomari VILLAGE”! 

What’s more, “Karadomari VILLAGE” even has its own tent saunas and bars! This well-rounded lineup ensures the fun never ends!

Today we will be treated by the renowned “Itoshima Kaisendo Futamigaura Honten” restaurant. Honten means flagship store, making this the optimal place to enjoy the flavors of 

With its own parking lot, the restaurant is perfect for those returning to Fukuoka City by car. Those utilizing the “West Coast Liner” bus service are also in luck, as the “Futamigaura (Wedded Rocks)” stop is just a one-minute walk away from the restaurant. 

“Itoshima Kaisendo Futamigaura Honten” was made with a concept of offering seafood rice bowls right next to the sea. Many customers come here to try the superbly fresh fish while gazing out on the water.

The floor seating, which seats over 70, has large windows with views of the Genkai Sea from most seats.

The restaurant even has private rooms complete with views of the sea! In these rooms guests can spend time with family and friends in a more relaxed and unhurried setting. 

After taking in the breathtaking view of the sea from your table, it’s time for the main attraction: the delectable cuisine!

Starting from the Genkai Sea, the menu features seafood caught around Kyushu, and the menu has something for everybody. Of course, the kaisendon or seafood rice bowl is the star of the show! There are also special items on the menu that are limited to 10 orders per day. Outside of the seafood rice bowl, tempura, a rich fish stew flavored with fish bones, and omakase sushi lunch specials are some of the different ways you can enjoy the fruits of the sea here.

Of course, the restaurant also offers child menus for those picky eaters. This way children or those unaccustomed to eating raw seafood can enjoy a meal as well. Gochisou-sama! That was delicious!
