Dates:01 Nov 2024 - 04 Nov 2024

A brilliant light up walk that will bring light to Hakata’s autumn night sky.

Enter normally restricted parts of shrines and temples during this special event. Fall begins in Hakata with this event!

The long and storied past of Hakata is told by its many temples and shrines. The “Hakata Old Town Light-up Walk: 1,000 Years of Brilliant Lights] will be adorning these buildings in dazzling light, accentuating their splendor.

In 2006 this light-up walk series was begun as a means of allowing people to appreciate the history and scenery of Hakata’s shrines and temples differently from daytime. This event will allow you to see Hakata’s temples and shrines in a whole new light!

Walking along a pathway designed especially for the occasion, the fantastical scenery will inspire and reveal aspects of these grand buildings you may not have noticed during the day. This is truly a must-see.

The theme of this year is “龍―Dragon”
Several of the light-up areas will feature a dragon motif, so please be on the lookout!

Enjoy classical and jazz musical performances and much more!
Other performances and events are planned to be held for the duration of the light-up.
Stamp rallies, special tickets, original goods, and photo contests are all planned in addition!

Enjoy a special night surrounded by light in the temples and shrines of Hakata Old Town. Walk, enjoy, and pay a visit to these lovely historical buildings. The long-night of autumn awaits you.
