A truly rare opportunity to be able to speak with and learn directly from craftspeople about their work!
The 11th iteration of the popular Hakata Traditional Craft and Design Thanksgiving Festival has the theme of “discovering the fun and joy of making, using, and learning about traditional crafts hands-on”.
At this event there will plenty to try, do, buy, and see. Purchase original traditional craft pieces, drink freshly ground coffee from Multiglass, Koishiwarayaki, and Aritayaki cups (*fee required) at a limited-time tea and coffee shop, and even partake of hands-on crafting experiences while being guided by experts in their craft. There is no better opportunity to discover the joy of traditional handicrafts!

In the sales area (use), a wide variety of traditional handicrafts will be available for purchase. These include Hakata classics such as Hakata-ori textiles and Hakata dolls, but also traditional crafts from Yame city, Yanagawa city, Aritayaki-ware, and even bamboo crafts from Beppu City in Oita.

In the activity (make, learn) corner there will be opportunities to try making your own little handicraft. Hakata-ori textiles, Hakata dolls, Hakata hariko, Hakata magemono, Hakata okiage, Koishiwarayaki ware, Yame Fukushima Buddhist altar lacquerware, Yanagawa soft rush, Yanagawa mari, Beppu bamboo crafts, tin accessories, and stained glass activities are all available for a total of 16 different experiences!

Traditional live Niwaka pun-comedy show put on by the “Hakata Niwaka May Group”. 14:00 ~ 14:30.

Coffee made from freshly ground organic coffee beans will be served in Multiglass, Koishiwarayaki, and Aritayaki cups. Limited to this event! (*Coffee will incur a separate charge).
Admission Fee
*Each of the activities will require payment. The amount varies depending on the experience in question.
*Registration for experiences is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day, and numbered tickets will be distributed based on this.
Food and drink at the coffee shop “Kaya” will be available for a separate cost.
