Ohori/Ropponmatsu Area | ArtGrand Studio Highlight|Yao Chung-Han: Electronic Monsters
Dates:13 Sep 2025 - 28 Sep 2025
During the FaN Week, an event organized to enhance artistic activities in the city, a special exhibition will open, featuring Yao Chung-Han, an internationally recognized media artist.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, Yao has been known for an experimental style of works employing light and sound, gaining public recognition since his early days, including the 4th Fukuoka Triennale in 2009 held in Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. Since 2017, the artist has also been engaged in extensive projects as Loudly Lighting Studio.
The Grand Studio, the space for this exhibition, used to be a gymnastics hall of Maizuru Junior High School between 1961 and 2014, which extends over 350 square meters. In this venue, the artist will present a large-sized installation consisting of light and shadow developed through the lightning devices named Electronic Monsters, together with numerous sounds.
We invite all to an encounter with a very special piece of contemporary art intersecting stillness and intensity, as if to represent the beginning of the world, or an artificial intelligence endowed with will.
