The Silvester Concert is a musical event on New Year's Eve where general participants in the choir and orchestra join soloists and professional musicians to ring in the new year on a grand stage. Beginning in Fukuoka in 2014, the Silvester Concert has been held yearly (excluding years  when it was cancelled due to the pandemic). Established with an aim of bringing people together through music, spreading the power of music, and giving back to the community, this event has been made possible by the efforts of Fukuoka’s residents. 

After 6 years, the concert returns to the Fukuoka Sunpalace Hall! 

Prior to the performance there will be plenty to enjoy in the lobby. Light refreshments, souvenir and small item vendors, and street performers will be present to help make the event inviting even to those unacquainted with classical music. With the 4th movement of Beethoven’s 9th being the centerpiece of the concert there are plenty of pieces that many might have already heard before, making this perfect for somebody’s first classical performance. 

Of course, the biggest highlight of the concert is the moment the clock strikes 12, ushering in the new year! Will the musical countdown be successful this year as well?! Experiencing the much-awaited moment in person is a great way to celebrate.
