From Saturday, December 13, 2025, to Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Special Exhibition: Unraveling the Mysteries of Ancient EGYPT from Brooklyn Museum will be held in the Special Exhibition Room on the 2nd floor of the Fukuoka City Museum.
The Brooklyn Museum proudly presents its ancient Egyptian collection, featuring a selection of artifacts gathered in Fukuoka.
Through approximately 150 pieces—including sculptures, coffins, jewelry, pottery, papyrus, and human and feline mummies—this exhibition unveils the unimaginably advanced civilization and daily life of the ancient Egyptians.
The Egyptian archaeologist Yukinori Kawae will lead us to journey through the three millennia of mystery.
How did people live back then? What did they eat? What did they fear?
What language did they speak? What writings did they leave behind?
Why were the pyramids built? How were he pyramids constructed?
What messages do the mummies carry? And what does the afterlife look like?
From previously overlooked “half-understood facts” to the latest findings of pyramid research, will be presenting it all through videos and sound.
This exhibition will unveil three millennia of mysteries and awaken your thirst for knowledge. Welcome to the world of ancient Egypt unfolding in Fukuoka!
