Dates:05 Jan 2023 - 21 Mar 2025

Fukuoka-born painter Chisato Tanaka is currently working on a mural art for the Fukuoka Art Museum's White Wall Project.

Chisato Tanaka graduated from Tama Art University in 2005 and started her career based in Fukuoka in 2006. Her method is characterised by foreground paintings in glossy oil on a flat jet-black background using acrylic paints.

The first phase of the work has been completed in January 2023, followed by production in January 2024 and January 2025, as the second and third phases of the mural to develop. The mural will be on display until the end of December 2025.

For the White Wall Project, Fukuoka Art Museum is commissioned new work from an artist associated with Kyushu. The setting for the work is the large wall in the corridor before the exit from the Modern and Contemporary Galleries where it will be on public display for three years. Recent works by the artist will also be shown in the Modern and Contemporary Art B.

Painted on a 13-meter white wall since 2020, “Untitled” by KYNE attracted much attention as the first work of the project.
