Enjoy Yatai fare and a light that bridges past and present! 

The Fukuoka Lights Festival 2025 –The Castle of Light – is now live in the Fukuoka Castle・Korokan area. The entire Fukuoka Castle area is now being illuminated, with the major motifs being a castle gate and a holy tree that was once said to exist on the castle grounds. For the duration of the event, garden lanterns and projection mapping will illuminate the path from the moat up to the castle’s inner citadel. This blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and digital lighting will bring a magical atmosphere to this historical landmark. 

Highlights

① The newly restored Shiomi Turret: a synchronized show of sound and light
Restored in March of this year, the Shiomi Turret will be decked out in projection mapping and a laser show, a composition of light and sound. 

② Experiential digital art activities
In the cherry blossom orchard, there is a holy tree, a gentle light emanating from the entrance to the garden. The glow that covers the entire area helps create this experiential digital art activity. 

③ A mystifying infinity space
By the front gate and past the large noren curtain there is a projection mapping depicting the castle, formerly referred to as Maizuru Castle because of its resemblance to a crane about to take off in flight.

There will also be fortune telling paper lanterns on the premises. With roughly 13 yatai and activity booths (including fun things like target shooting) there will be plenty of fun, food, and drink to be had!
