The "Model of the Universe: The Birth Story of the Planetarium" is showing at the Dome Theater of the Fukuoka City Science Museum until Monday, March 3, 2025.

"Model of the Universe: The Birth Story of the Planetarium" introduces the history of humanity's fascination with space, with a focus on the development drawings of the first planetarium available to the public 100 years ago. With valuable documents filled with the passion and ingenuity of the developers at that time, we will explore the untold story of the origins of the planetarium.

This program is available in four languages (Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean) using an infrared hearing system (headphones). It is an experience that visitors from around the world can enjoy.

One of the highlights of this program lies in its visual expression, combining the latest imaging technology with hand-drawn illustrations. The history of planetariums, from ancient times to the present day, is vividly depicted using Japan's world-renowned animation techniques and 3D CGI.

Inside the science museum, there is a space where parents and children can relax and play, as well as a gift shop offering exclusive Fukuoka City Science Museum merchandise. Experience Japan's rich planetarium culture in a special space where history and cutting-edge technology come together.
