"Special Exhibition: Kenji Ishikawa Moonlight Photography Exhibition: Bathed in Moonlight on a Moonlit Night (Fukuoka City Science Museum)

Kenji Ishikawa is a photographer who specialises in capturing images illuminated solely by the light of the full moon, an event that occurs only 12 times a year.

After spending 30 years photographing full moons across four continents, he moved to the Itoshima Peninsula in Fukuoka in 2016. His latest collection features moonlit landscapes from Hokkaido to Okinawa, with a particular focus on Itoshima, capturing the beauty of Japan's four seasons under the full moon.

Under a starry sky, plants and animals glow with life in the moonlight, while familiar landscapes reveal a character quite different from that seen during the day. As visitors encounter these transformed scenes, they are invited to reflect on their place within the vast universe.

Join moonlight photographer Kenji Ishikawa as he guides you along the exhibition route, taking in his works from winter through to spring, summer and autumn, whilst sharing anecdotes about his photography.
*Please note that a ticket for the current exhibition is required to attend the gallery talk.

Participation tickets will be distributed to customers who purchase a photo book, DVD or framed print at the ‘Kenji Ishikawa: Moonlight Bathing Fair’ inside Ropponmatsu Tsutaya Bookstore.
*Participation tickets can be collected at the time of purchase, even on days other than the event date.
*Limited to the first 50 people each day, with a limit of one item per person.
