See sumo wrestlers from the Nakamura stable training camp first-hand!

From August 3 (Monday) until August 5 (Wednesday), sumo wrestlers from the Nakamura Stable will be holding a training camp at the Fukuoka Budokan in the Hakata ward. Professional sumo wrestlers will be training in public, allowing locals, children, and foreign visitors to come and watch together. This is a great opportunity for visitors to engage directly with one of Japan’s most beloved sporting and cultural pastimes.

You can watch training bouts between the wrestlers from up close.

❖Sumo challenge 
Sumo wrestlers will provide gentle instruction on an authentic sumo ring.
Dates: August 3 (Monday) – 5 (Wednesday), 2026  
Eligibility: Kindergarteners through 6th graders (no sumo experience necessary)

❖Chanko hot pot gathering
A special gathering where you can interact and converse with sumo wrestlers over a bowl of chanko nabe hot pot. Experience the sumo lifestyle firsthand!
Dates: August 4 (Tuesday) – 5 (Wednesday), 2026, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Location: CAFE LOUNGE Shiki no Iro
