The 60th Fukuoka Resident Art Festival

The Fukuoka Citizens’ Art Festival is an event held annually in the fall to allow the residents of the city to showcase their artistic talents and to be able to come and watch the productions of their fellow Fukuokans. The Fukuoka Civic Hall opened in 1962, and the following year the festival opened, making this year’s festival the 60th, a notable milestone.

Music, fine art, drama, dance, traditional performances, literature, media-based works, and lifestyle culture all fall within the purview of the festival, and because of this broad appeal to a wide variety of art forms has become a much loved event by the local populace. This year some additional special events have been planned!

The 60th Fukuoka Citizens’ Art Festival Commemoration Project

Presentation of Workshop Projects (Main Event) [Create, Dance, and Captivate With the Condors! FaN Fun Performance]

This FaN Week use your body and express yourself with the power of dance! At the Fukuoka City Art Museum and Artist Café Fukuoka (not to be confused with the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum) members of the Condors will host a workshop where you’ll be able to develop a dance together with them.

Having come in contact with various different artistic genres, these performances will be born out of an environment where the participants’ will be surrounded by art, their movements a way of giving physical form to their expression.

With the art on display having an urban and nonchalant air, you will be able to discover new aesthetic perspectives as well as rediscover what makes Fukuoka so special.
