Did you know? Fukuoka happens to be one of Japan’s better-kept secrets when it comes to sake production. The soft waters of the Chikugo and Yabe Rivers, the availability of Yamada-Nishiki rice. the king of sake rices, and the cold winters make the region ideal for sake making. Rich and fragrant, the sake of Fukuoka is delightfully tasty.
To help visitors enjoy this vital part of traditional Japanese culture, for one day some of Fukuoka’s best sakes will be available to drink right in the heart of the city in Tenjin. Mull over where to go next in the city while sipping your drink at this tourism-desk-turned-sake-bar!

❖ Fukuoka City/Prefecture sake taste comparison (individual purchase also available)
We offer carefully selected Japanese sake from breweries in Fukuoka City (and parts of the prefecture) in three-sake tasting sets or as individual servings.
・Three-Sake Tasting: 800 yen (Three 40ml servings of your choice) ※100 yen extra per serving if including LIBROM (LIBROM Three-Sake Tasting Set: 1,000 yen)
・Single Serving: 400 yen, LIBROM only 500 yen (50ml per serving)
❖ Sake & snack pairing
Try pairing three of your favorite sakes with three different snacks! Find the pairing that you enjoy best.
・Cost: 1,000 yen (one time) *40ml per serving plus the three snacks

❖ Sake brand tasting
We will have you blind taste three selected types of sake available at the venue that day and guess the brand. Those who manage to guess correctly for all three will receive a free drink voucher!
・Participation: 600 yen *three 30ml servings as part of the guessing game.
・Times: round 1 at 14:00, round 2 at 16:00
❖ Informational panel display about Fukuoka’s sake
A panel will be set-up filled with information about sake. A bilingual tool for connecting sake to sightseeing will be available as well.

❖ Sake talk show by Kikisake-shi sake sommelier (Japanese)
Known for his his sake-related insights on YouTube and Instagram, sake sommelier Kikisake-shi Sugitama-san(@ponsyusugitama) will be delivering a talk show about sake at the event. He will be discussing the fundamentals of sake appreciation as well as the unique characteristics of sake from Fukuoka (Japanese language only).
