The yearly [Hakata Doll and Youkai Exhibition] is being held at the Hakata Museum of Traditional Crafts!

An annual summer exhibition of popular works. Open until 20:00 on July 26 - 28!

Every year new pieces are added, helping to expand the horizon of this venerable craft.

With “youkai”, or spirits and creatures from Japanese folklore as the main theme, a wide variety of Hakata Dolls will be exhibited and available for purchase at the event. With sizes ranging from the realistic Oni and magical cats to even smaller and cuter spirits, there will be a wide variety of dolls on display. 

New works are introduced every year, and visitors can enjoy the new world of Hakata dolls in this popular exhibition. This year marks the 10th exhibition, which has become an annual summer event at the Hakata Museum of Traditional Crafts.

This year's new works include “Kyusenbo (kappa)” and “Nue,” yokai that are said to reside in Kyushu, and are made full of realism.

From July 26 to July 28, the museum will be open until 8 pm!
