In March 2025, the number of facilities and amenities doubled with the completion of expansion work to the Fukuoka Airport International Terminal, transforming the terminal into a far more accommodating and convenient hub for those traveling. As an international travel hub, there are plenty of direct flights available to major destinations in East/Southeast Asia such as Seoul, Busan, Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore, making travel a cinch. We can’t wait to see what other new travel routes open in the future!

Floor 1/Arrivals: Introducing the new access hall!

In December 2024 a roughly 4,000㎡ access hall was added to the airport. The formerly tight and cramped arrivals lobby was expanded greatly, making access to secondary transport easier than ever! Indoor waiting areas for buses coming to the terminal and the presence of multi-lingual transportation information are among some of the most noticeable improvements. Other useful features include a convenience store, café, restaurants, tourism information centers, foreign currency exchange, and even Wi-Fi rental services- vital facilities in any airport. The raw materials used in the ceiling of the new hall were sourced in Fukuoka Prefecture, helping new arrivals to feel the warmth of Fukuokan hospitality as soon as they get here.

Floor 3/Departures: Feel Fukuoka in the new YAGURA area!

In the center of the new duty-free store area is a new yagura, or central turret made with representative crafts of Fukuoka including Yame paper lanterns, Hakata-ori textiles, and sake barrels. As a culmination of Japanese and Fukuokan sensibilities, this would make for the perfect photo spot! We can easily imagine this becoming a new symbolic landmark of the expanded international terminal.

Floor 3/Departures: Duty-free shopping expanded fourfold, and a new food court make for a relaxing experience

In the area beyond immigration control, a new duty-free store—about four times larger than the previous one—and a food court with eight shops have been added, making shopping and dining before boarding more enjoyable and comfortable. These offerings do not end with departures either—a new duty-free store has also opened in the arrivals area, making it incredibly easy to get your shopping in whether you’re coming or going.

Enjoy the flavors of Kyushu and Fukuoka in the food court

In the HAKATA FOOD HALL visitors will be able to sup on local classics such as ramen, yakitori, motsunabe, udon, and other beloved local delicacies. With a variety of famous shops to choose from, the availability of Fukuoka’s renowned cuisine prior to take-off is a very welcome addition.

③ Hakata Chicken Skin Skewers and Eel, Takenoya (Yakitori・Eel)
④ Nagahama Seafood Donburi Rice Bowl Umi no Shokudo (Seafood Donburi)

A Boutique Specializing in Japanese Brands and an Expanded Cosmetics Area

The new duty-free store features the airport’s first-ever brand boutique dedicated exclusively to Japanese brands. In the cosmetics area, a wide range of products is available—from well-known domestic and international names to lifestyle cosmetics and up-and-coming brands—offering a total of 79 brands, including 27 new additions. You can enjoy shopping to your heart’s content right up until it’s time to board your flight!

Floor 4/Departures: Airline company lounge renewal—a luxurious space featuring a panoramic view of the tarmac

Located on the fourth floor of the departure area is the new and improved airline company lounge, Lounge Fukuoka! Almost double in size, the new lounge now commands a terrific view of the tarmac below. The lounge exudes a refined elegance thanks to the presence of Hakata dolls, Hakata-ori tapestries, and other traditional handicrafts located throughout the interior. In addition to Fukuoka classics, the food menu has been upgraded to feature over 30 new items, and if you’re in the mood for a pre-flight drink you can even enjoy a cup of sake or shochu from Fukuoka prefecture while you’re at it!

Filled with distinctly Fukuokan charm and nuance, Lounge Fukuoka provides a luxury that is a cut above the ordinary.
