Hakata Area | Play Best Denki Stadium
This is the home stadium of Avispa Fukuoka. The stadium was renamed in spring of 2008 from “Hakata-no-mori Kyugi Jo”. It resides on a vast site of Higashi Hirao Park and has two viewer stands covered by beautifully curved roofs. It is considered as one of the best soccer stadiums in Japan. It has a seating capacity of 22,600. It is not only a soccer stadium but also serves as rugby and American football stadium. Nearby are many facilities including the Hakata-no-mori Athletic Stadium and a municipally run pool.
Avispa is a local professional soccer club with enthusiastic supporters. The name comes from a Spanish word meaning carpenter bee, reflecting an expectation for the team to have hard work, teamwork and speed like bees. Their mascot character is of course a carpenter bee. This club has been rooted in local communities and making contribution to child education in the field of sports and also to the development of sports culture in Fukuoka.
