Ohori/Ropponmatsu Area | OtherSakanaction Goodnight Planetarium 2026

Dates:22 Jul 2026 - 26 Aug 2026

The record breaking Sakanaction Goodnight Planetarium will be coming back to the Fukuoka City Science Museum dome planetarium this year!

This special event featuring a synchronized show of the music of rock band Sakanaction, starry night skies, and dome planetarium’s projections will be coming to Fukuoka once more this summer. Wildly popular, last year’s shows managed to break records with all seats sold out. The event continues to command great popularity ever since its initial staging 10 years ago.

The Fukuoka City Science Museum dome theater is outfitted with the state of the art optical projector, InfiniumΣ. This projector allows for breathtakingly realistic recreations of the starry sky, and this show in which music is synchronized to vivid astral imagery is the only one of its kind in West Japan (*).

With Sakanaction’s vocalist Ichiro Yamaguchi handling the narration, the venue will be filled with their popular songs including “Music”, “Goodbye”, and “Eureka”, all of which have been remastered in surround sound specifically for the dome theater’s (planetarium) audio system.

We hope you will enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience featuring powerful music and vistas from outer space in Fukuoka this summer.

Sakanaction / Ichiro Yamaguchi Profile

The band began performing in 2005 and made their major-label debut in 2007.
In 2015, they composed the soundtrack for the film Bakuman., becoming the first rock band to win the Best Original Score award at the 39th Japan Academy Film Awards.
Their 2025 release “Kaiju” (the theme song for the anime Chi. —On the Movement of the Earth—), garnered a huge response, and their follow-up single “I don’t need it” has also dominated the top spots on various music streaming charts, following in the footsteps of “Kaiju.” While receiving critical acclaim for their music, their progressive approach which continues to explore what it means to be a musician continues to make waves.
